Rare Eldred Wheeler inlaid cherry candle stand

Rare Eldred Wheeler inlaid cherry snake foot candle stand in the 1770-90 style. Two board cherry top with maple and ebony fan inlaid corners framed by line inlay. Measures 16" square x 25" high. Please see "Eldred Wheeler / A Collector's Guide" by Emmett W. Eldred, page 230, for reference to this table. Eldred Wheeler made the finest reproductions of period American furniture. It is no longer in business.

Torbjorn Afdal rosewood MCM bar cabinet

Exquisite rosewood mid century modern bar cabinet. Designed by Torbjorn Afdal (1917-1999) for Mellemstrands Mobelfabrik, Norway, circa 1965. Completely finished all around. Slate top, brass hardware and casters, green felt bottle liners. Measures 30.5" wide closed, 61" wide open, 35" high and 16.5" deep. A storage pocket on the lower right door has been lost. Otherwise excellent condition.

Bench made solid tiger maple dining table and six matching fan back Windsor chairs, circa 1980. Strong all over tiger grain and beautiful light honey finish. The table has porringer ends, pronounced hand block-planed top, wooden pin construction and country Queen Anne legs. Excellent craftsmanship and condition, strong and very comfortable. We rarely come across sets of solid tiger maple chairs. The table measures 72" long x 35.5" wide x 29.75" high. The 2 armchairs are 44" high at the back, 28.75" high to the arms, 17.5" high to the seats, 27.5" wide and 17" deep. The side chairs are 39" high to the back, 17.5" high to the seats, 27" wide and 17" deep.

French "os de mouton" walnut side chair circa 1700. Beautiful original surface patina, hand-cut mortised joints held with wooden pins. Measures 41.25" high to the back, 17" high to the seat, 16.5" wide, and 17.5" deep. Newly professionally upholstered in straw yellow linen, strong and comfortable.

Howard and Sons london mahogany Georgian style games table c1880

Howard and Sons, London, mahogany Georgian style games table. Hand built from heavy single stock mahogany. Single hand cut dovetailed drawer, cut-out wells for game chips or coins, and corner wells for drinks (in the 18th century the corner wells would have held candles). Measures 32.5" square x 28.5" high. The label states: Howard & Sons Manufacturers 25,26,27, Berners St, London, W. Earlier pieces are signed Howard & Sons, Berners Street, prior to the company's expansion. The business was opened in 1820. Howard sofas and chairs became popular during the Victorian era amongst the upper class. They collaborated with Gillows of Lancaster. They supplied furniture to the Savoy Hotel in London. Howard & Sons received a number of Royal Warrants of Appointment. Some authentic designs of Howard & Sons furniture nowadays are in the State Hermitage museum, Saint-Petersburg, Russia. Their pieces are highly coveted by collectors.
