Rare large Appalachian fanny basket c1900
Item# 9468    $1200
Rare large Appalachian fanny basket c1900

Rare large Appalachian fanny or buttocks basket circa 1900. It measures 14 inches high to the handle, 10 inches high to the rim, 15 inches wide, and 22 inches long. Oak splint on rib construction on raised foot with oak handle. We are fairly certain the basket was made in the Appalachian Mountains because northern basket makers favored black ash over oak. It is in excellent condition with a beautiful patina.
