Peter Czuk hand crafted artisan wall shelf
Item# 9496    $1600
Peter Czuk hand crafted artisan wall shelf

Peter Czuk Modern hand crafted artisan wall shelf made in 2014. Three adjustable shelves. Made from exotic woods with brass pin construction and two adjustable shelves. Measures 56 inches tall, with three removable 29 x 7.75 inch shelves. Peter Czuk has been a full time studio artist for over 40 years. He was one of the earliest artists of the studio furniture movement, developing a distinctive and recognizable style. Strong designs incorporated into items that are well constructed is central to what Peter builds. He strives to generate pieces that are exciting and original, balancing one-of-a-kind with limited production work. “I have surrounded myself with an extensive collection of domestic and imported woods. I find the wood to be an important source of inspiration for designing a piece...I use it as a jumping off point on a project.” Peter starts his projects with wood slabs from the saw mill that are air dried in his warehouse. Walking through his shop is walking from a downed tree to a furniture showroom. From logs, to stacked drying slabs, to roughed out pieces, to pieces ready for finishing, each item carefully wrought to let the unique character of the wood determine its use and presentation. No wood is wasted in this process, even little wood scraps collected over the years find their way into new pieces.Particularly intriguing and exciting is the Czuk wall shelving. Peter designed a special clamp that holds the shelves in place. When the clamp is loosened the shelves can slide back and forth allowing customized configurations for objects of different sizes. Peter’s studio is located in Kendall, MI, a small village outside of Kalamazoo. If you wish to browse our entire available inventory please go to OneofaKindAntiques.com.
