Floriano de Araújo Teixeira (Cajapió MA 1923 - Salvador BA 2000) inicia seus estudos de desenho, em São Luís (Maranhão), com Rubens Damasceno em 1935 e de pintura com João Lázaro de Figueiredo em 1940. Em 1949, participa da fundação do Núcleo Eliseu Visconti, onde atua até o início da década de 50. Dois anos depois, em Fortaleza (Ceará), participa da criação do Grupo dos Independentes, com Antonio Bandeira e J. Siqueira. Em 1962, organiza e dirige o Museu de Arte da UFC. Ilustra vários livros, destacando-se entre eles: Dona Flor e seus Dois Maridos, A Morte e a Morte de Quincas Berro D'Água, O Menino Grapiúna - todos de Jorge Amado - e A Terra dos Meninos Pelados, de Graciliano Ramos. Entre as exposições de que participa, destacam-se: Salão de Abril, várias edições entre 1950 e 1957 (Primeiro Prêmio, 1952, 1953, 1957); I ao III Salão dos Independentes, Fortaleza, 1952/1953/1954; I Bienal Nacional de Artes Plásticas, Salvador, 1966 (Grande Prêmio); Panorama da Arte Atual Brasileira, no MAM/SP, de São Paulo, várias edições entre 1969 e 1976; Os Ilustradores de Jorge Amado, na Fundação Casa de Jorge Amado, Salvador, 1988; SCAP: 50 Anos, na Sociedade Cearense de Artes Plásticas, Fortaleza, 1991. This oil on board abstract Modern Art painting from Brazil was painted by artist Wega Neri in 1968 and measures 6 inches by 12 inches and is in its original frame that measures 13 by 7 and one half inches. Wega Neri was born in Corumba Brazil in 1913. His formal art studies were in Sao Paulo Brazil athe the Escola de Belas Artes at the Universidale de Sao Paulo. Landscape Watercolour by British artist F J Widgery c1880 Item # 4997 Click HERE to inquire about this item F J Widgery watercolour landscape. John Widgery produced landscape and coastal scenes, mainly in gouache, with most of the subjects being local scenes in the Devon and Cornwall area. There is a book by Baker C. Jane titled "A Vision of Dartmoor Paintings by FJ Widgery 1861 -1942". Introduction by C Jane Baker Frederick John Widgery 1861 - 1942. The younger son of the artist William Widgery, he was educated at the Cathedral School, Exeter and later studied at the Exeter school of Art, then subsequently at South Kensington and in Antwerp. He became very active in municipal affairs and was Mayor of Exeter from 1903 to 1904, he was also chairman of many committees and a captain in the 'Volunteers. His style is distinctive and influenced by his father although his work is noticeably more formal than self taught William. The moorland scenes for which he is best known are hallmarked with the familiar purple and mauve of the heather rendered most commonly in gouache but also in watercolor and oil.The coastlines and harbors are also well recorded by this artist and he was responsible for the illustration of several moorland and coastal books. A granite cross was erected on Brat Tor by his father, William to celebrate Queen Victoria's jubilee and has subsequently been renamed Widgery Cross. The frame measures 26 and three quarters by 13 and one quarter. The image measures 20 and one half inches by 7 and one quarter inches. This watercolor is in excellent condition.
