This painting is in very good original condition but could use a cleaning. Signed "Chas P Gruppe" in the lower right section. The original gallery label is marked number 5527. The painting measures 20 by 28 inches and the frame measures 34 by 26 inches. Did not attend art school but studied old and modern masters on his own and painted before nature. Sailed to Dordrecht, Holland in 1892, where he quickly made a name for himself, winning the patronage of Queens Emma and Wilhelmina. Often linked to the Hague School.
