GRUPPE, Charles Paul (1860-1940) .Charles P Gruppe oil on canvas landscape titled "The Sheep Pasture". This painting is in very good original condition but could use a cleaning. Signed "Chas P Gruppe" in the lower right section. The original gallery label is marked number 5527. The painting measures 20 by 28 inches and the frame measures 34 by 26 inches. Did not attend art school but studied old and modern masters on his own and painted before nature. Sailed to Dordrecht, Holland in 1892, where he quickly made a name for himself, winning the patronage of Queens Emma and Wilhelmina. Often linked to the Hague School. He returned to his base in Rochester, New York at the outbreak of World War I. This information was taken from Art Net

EATON, Charles Warren (1857-1937) Charles Warren Eaton oil painting on canvas titled On the Morris Canal. This painting by Eaton retains its old gallery labels on the reverse and a letter explaining the location of the Morris Canal. This oil on canvas measures 17 inches by 22 inches Eaton was An American Tonalist. He was one of the chief members of the Tonalist movement, along with Henry Ward Ranger, Elliott Daingerfield and others who learned from French Barbizon paintings and, more immediately, from George Inness

At the age of 16, she graduated from the High School of Music and Art, as a markedly talented art major. For awhile, she attended Temple University's Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia. Sadly, her promise was cut short by the twin assaults of schizophrenia and multiple sclerosis. Her few extant paintings were all done during her teens and early twenties, including one of her caregiver, Edna . The last decade of her life was spent in a private nursing facility.
