Polish born American artist Janice Biala, known as "Biala", born in the small town of Biala, Poland in 1903, from where she gets her name. This Modern Art oil painting on canvas measures 47 inches by 40 inches outside the frame and 42 inches wide and 35 inches high within the frame. Great original condition. Antique Hand Finished "Manuel Robbe" aquatints. The frame on this Manuel Robbe work of art measures 34 and one half inches high by 28 and one half inches wide. The image itself, measures 19 and one half inches tall and is 15 inches wide.Manuel Robbe (1872-1936) (Born in Paris on December 16, 1872, he was descended from a northern French family from the town of Berthune. He studied painting and etching, and soon became an accomplished engraver, specializing in the medium of aquatint. He exhibited regularly at the Salons of the Societe des Artistes Fransais. Edmond Sagot, one of the most significant publishers of prints at the turn of the 20th century, was a great admirer of Manuel Robbe, and regularly published color prints by him.) American Impressionist artist Frank Alfred Bicknell, impressionist landscape signed Frank A. Bicknell, painted in Stamford CT. Oil on canvas 24 x 30. Signed lower left. Title "An October Sunset" in pencil on stretcher. Condition is excellent, no inpainting, holes, or tears. This was Frank A. Bicknell's 1908 entry submission to the National Academy of Design, catalog #216. He believed this painting represented the best of his work. The scene is highlighted with luminous pinks, yellows and greens. Frank Bicknell was an important member of the Old Lyme, CT, art colony. He was born in 1866 in Augusta, ME, and died in 1943 in Essex, CT. His other addresses include Malden, MA, NYC, and Old Lyme, CT. He studied with his father, Albion H. Bicknell, and at Academie Julien, Paris. His memberships include ANA, Paris AAA, SC, NAC, Allied Am. Artists, NAD, SPNY, PAA and Chicago WC Soc. NOTE on Oct 21 2004, at Shannons Fine Art Auction, a Bicknell titled The Old Apple Orchard, Springtime, Auvers Sur Oise, measuring 32 by 39 inches, estimated at $20,000 to $30,000, realized $57,750. Antique 19th Century Gouache unsigned. This painting measures 15 and one sixteenth inches high by 16 and 13 sixteenths inches wide. This image of this antique unsigned gouache measures 8 and one quarter inches wide by six and one quarter inches high. Features: dead pigeon, pears, carrot, onion, possibly a radish, and a bottle, possibly containing oil, wine perhaps. This item was hard to photograph due to the glass in the frame, it is in excellent condition.
