"Antique Tramp Art" Frames,American antique hobo or Tramp Art,Tramp Art picture frame in a "Crown of Thorns" design c1900. Large frames in Tramp Art are very hard to find.There are new books out on Tramp Art that are worth reading that explain the entire movement. This frame measures 26" x 32" outside and 19" x 25" inside. Some minor damage to three tips.

Antique landscape painting by artist "William J. Potter", Greenwich CT. Painter and teacher. Born in West Townsend, VT, in 1883,died in Bellefonte, PA in 1964. Studied at PA Academy of Fine Arts, and with Walter Sicker in London. Member of Salmagundi Club, New York, and CT Academy of Fine Arts. Exhibited with Allied Artists of America, New York,1934. Represented in: Brooklyn Museum; Hispanic Museum, New York; Memorial Art Gallery, Rochester: Herron Art Institute, Indianapolis; Cincinnati Museum of Art; Exposition Park Museum, Los Angeles; Sydney Australia Museum; Museum of Rouen, France; and Museo Nacionale del Arte Modero, Madrid, Spain. Oil painting on canvas, 16" x 20", signed at bottom W J Potter.

"Pietre Dure" Antique Pietre Dure,A fabulous Pietre Dure (hardstone) of a Italian peasant.Unsigned by artist. This piece has vibrant colors. Red, blue, green, mauve, browns, grays, and white. C1860-1880 The original artist frame meaures 13" high by 8 and three quarters inches wide. Image measures 6 and one half inches by 10 and one half inches. This picture was brought back by the couples great grandfather during his tour of Italy.

Antique painting American William C.Frerichs

"William Frerichs"artist, Oil on canvas,19th century by artist William C. A. Frerichs. Born in Gant, Belgium, in 1829. After completing his studies in Belguim with Van Hove, he came to New York. He exhibited at the National Academy of Design in 1852. He began teaching in Greensboro, SC, in 1854, remainging there until 1863. He then became the director of an art school in Newark, NJ. Mr. Frerichs died in Tottenville (Staten Island), New York in 1905. Compiled from listiings in Benzit, Who Was Who in American Art, and Fieldings guide to American Painters. This painting was found in a church in southern CT, where it had hung for decades. It has been professionally cleaned and restored,and the frame is original. The overall dimensions are 40 inches by 57". It is signed in red, one third up the right side.
