Artist "Wesley Webber paintings" Antique American Art landscape oil on canvas attributed to artist Wesley Webber Landscape & marine painterBorn 1839 Gardiner, ME, died 1914 Wollaston, MA Adresses:Boston 1870-90, NYC after 1892. Studied:self-taught. Member:Boston AC. Exhibited: Leonard Auction Rooms; Boston AC; Mechanics Inst., Boston; Brooklyn AA; NAD. Work: PeabodyMus., Salem; Boston Athanaeum; Brooklyn Mus.; PortlandMA. Note: Webber served in the Civil War and was presentat General Lees surrender at Appomattox. His sketches andfinished illustrations of the event were shown at the BostonArt Club and brought him his first public recognition. Theywere published as wood engravings in Harpers Weekly, andas lithographs by J. H. Bufford, BostonFrame measures 24" high by 30 inches long. Canvas measures 18 inches by 25". Gold leaf frame.

Depicts a herdsman with his cows outside of a small village with a horse and carriage arriving.This painting was painted by a very skilled artist of the day. Excellent condition.C1790 to 1820. Measures 28 inches wide by 22 and one half inches deep.
