Fannie and Jennie Burr. "Fannie Jennie Burr" 1872 to 1961 and 1858 to 1931.Black eyed Susans in a vase, oil on canvas by Fannie Burr, this wonderful painting depicts black eyed susan flowers in a vase. This oil on canvas measures 13 inches by 23 inches.They were 2 of 5 children born into Monroe, CT's most prominent family. Their father was a very successful farmer. Although the 2 sisters were 14 years apart, they were close. Fannie began to draw as a child. She later attended and graduated from the Yale School of Fine Arts. After that, she studied at the Art Students League in NYC. These accomplishments were very rare for a young woman in those days. List in Who Was Who in American Art by Falk

Portrait of a Friesen Woman, Unsigned, Dated 1750 Oil on hand-woven linen. The sitter, a widow, wears a black beaver hat, a lace-trimmed cloak, and mourning beads. She holds a prayer book, indicating that she could read - unusual for a woman of her time. The frame is antique but not original. Note: Friesen, or Friesland, is the northernmost province of Holland on the North Sea. This antique 18th century portrait painting measures 33 inches high by 25 and one half inches wide. The images of this antique 18th century painting measures 30 and one quarter inches high by 22 and three quarter inches wide. Excellent original as found condition.

This painting is signed Stry. The back of the oil on board states #3 sketch of my house where I lived and painted in Old Lyme Connecticut.
