| - - - | Nathan Margolis Watercolor Beach Scene Item # 3501 Click HERE to inquire about this item "Nathan Margolis Water color" This Margolis watercolor measures 23 inches by 17 and one half inches Nathan Margolis watercolor. Nathan Margolis, listed as a painter, lithographer, designer and screen-printer, was born in 1908 in Philadelphia, PA. He studied at the University of PA (BS), Harvard, Temple (MFA), and the Barnes Foundation. He was a member of the CT Academy of Fine Arts, the Philadelphia Print Club, the American Color Printers Society, the Philadelphia Art Alliance, and the Artists' Equity Association in NYC. He exhibited widely between 1936 and 1957: the Art Institute of Chicago, Library of Congress, CT Academy of Fine Arts, Cleveland Print Makers, PA Academy of Fine Arts, and the Art Club of Philadelphia, among others. He has a good background, but unfortunately, a dismal auction track, and the quality of his work is inconsistent.

- - - - | John Lavalle Vintage oil on Canvas of Virgin Mary at Prayer titled Madonna Item # 3508 Click HERE to inquire about this item Oil on canvas full-face portrait of the Virgin Mary at prayer, titled Madonna, signed John Lavalle, and dated 1933. The renaissance-style gold leaf frame has flat column sides and polychrome painted panels across the top and at the base. John Lavalle's work does not bring strong prices at auction. This is surprising, because he was well-schooled (Harvard University (AB) Boston, Museum of Fine Art School with Philip Hale; Academie Julian, Paris, Jean Francis Auburtin, Paris), and his work was shown and awarded at many top level exhibitions and galleries (PAFA Annual, NAD, Corcoran Gallery, etc). This portrait is painted in a carefully controlled style with a minimum of texture on the canvas. Canvas measures 26 inches high by 19 inches wide and the frame measures 37 inches high by 28 inches wide.

Copperplate engraved map on mould paper, preservation mounted on archival fabric.(1650-1718).. Coronelli founded the first Geographical Society in 1680, and was cartographer to the Republic of Venice in 1685. This antique map depicits the Atlantic Ocean and much of the American shore as it was assumed to be at that time.This wonderful map is in very good original condition and measures 18 and one half inches by 24 and three quarters inches. The frame it is in measures 31 and one half inches by 25 and one quarter inches.

This original "Peter Helck" scratched etching depicts a driver racing his vintage automobile. The process to make this art piece is quite unique. The artist applies ink that he then scratches off the surface to create the image. This original Helck art piece dates from the early 20th century and measures 9 inches by 6 and one quarter inches. The frame measures 19 and one quarter inches by 16 and three eighths inches.
