The spoon shaped hollowed wood sound box is covered with skin and the arm is a carved female figure with a topknot coiffure. Middle 20th century. Excellent condition, beautiful patina. The instrument is 30" long end to end, and 5" wide. It stands 30" high on a custom museum stand. Original gilt and plychrome surface. The saint is dressed in a black and gilt tunic and a red and gilt robe. His expressive face features brown glass eyes and a slightly open mouth with ivory teeth and tongue. The lion is at his right foot. He stands on a giltwood pedestal. The saint is 22" hign and 12.5" wide at his hands. The overall dimensions including the base are: 30.5" high; 18" wide; 16" deep. In very good as found estate condition.

She is seated langorously in a lyre back chair and holds a jester stick and a mask. The gilt bronze surface is in excellent condition, with gentle wear at the side of the face. Measures 12.75 inches wide, 5 inches deep and 12 inches high with base. J C de Blezer was a 19th century French sculptor born in Ghent, Belgium. He studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris under renowned sculptor Jean Baptiste Clesinger.De Blezer's best known work was his 1870 bust of American abolishionist John Brown, now in the collection of Oberlin College.
