English under domed hummingbird sculpture Item # 1766 Click HERE to inquire about this item Fantastic antique under glass domed hummingbird sculpture. this sculpture contains approximately 30 birds mostly "hummingbirds" that were probably tropical because their colors are so bright. This dome was brought from England 30 years ago. The fact that it was covered in nicotine from a mans den protected it from the light of day keeping the birds bright and in superior condition. The taxidermist that placed the birds in this dome was a true artist placing each bird in a position that is so true to life. This antique porcelain bust has a lovely mat glaze and wonderful flesh tones. There are some damage areas that have pieces missing. There are two end pieces at the end of the dress in the back and front and some other small flakes. The detail to this piece is quite wonderful with roses in her hair and on her bust. The fabric detail is excellent. This antique Bohemian or Austrian bust measures 19 inches high and 11 inches wide. The pedestal is 6 inches in diameter.
