This "antique crucifix" is extremely well made with sculptures of animals hand riveted on all four points along with a sculpture of Christ. The individual silver plated sculptures depict the animals which are the heraldic devices of the four Gospel writers: Matthew (man, ) Mark (lion) Luke (winged ox) and John (eagle or phoenix). The La "Langouste" is signed under the tail flap, and is clearly marked, which can be seen in one of the thumbnail images.The original box measures 19 and one half inches long by 3 and three quarter inches high and is 8 and thre eighths inches wide. The metal La Langouste sculpture measures 18 inches from curled tail to extended antennae. The body measures 7 inches long and is 4 and one half inches wide.
