Antique American folkart horse weathervane Item # 3780 Click HERE to inquire about this item Antique "American horse weathervane, 1880, of Ethan Allen (ref. page 116) "Art of the Weathervane" by Miller, in old "in use" paint from a horse barn in upstate New York (1/2 mile from Copake NY), rare small size. " It is on a removable base 26-1/2" long and stands 18" high. This piece of American Folk art is made from copper with a zinc head. There is some damage to the tail and denting which is to be expected from period weathervanes. The base was made to hold it for display. The top part of the sculpture, the man and the stone on which he stands, measures 24 and one half inches tall and is 22 inches long by 10 inches wide. This North African marble sculpture measures 61 inches high overall. Mid to late 19th century. This is an unsigned piece but obviously carved by a master. The carving is so detailed you can see the wind blowing his garments back as he charges. The details in his face, which is bronze, finely depict the intensity of the moment. Antique Heron Black Forest Carved wall shelf Item # 4004 Click HERE to inquire about this item Antique Black Forest Carved wall shelf. This "Carved wood" dark oak"Black Forest wall self" is quite important. We have only had a few pieces of this quality in our 30 years of selling fine antiques. Black Forest wood carvings from the mid to late 19th century are difficult to come by. This carving depicts what looks like a heron that has just flow into a marsh grabbing a snake by its feet and flying upward to the sky above. What makes this piece so important is that (not including the original top self) was carved from a large single piece of dark oak, not carved from several pieces laminated together like the later pieces we come across. The carving measures14 and one half inches high,and 8 and one half inches wide, 5 and one half inches deep. The original shelf measures 11 and one half inches wide and 8 and one half inches deep. Painter Caribe Heitor Julio Paride Bernabo sculpture Item # 4020 Click HERE to inquire about this item Caribe Heitor Julio Paride Bernabo 1911- 1998 BR Caribe' is a pseudonym of Hector Bernabo' Born Lanus, Argentine 1911. See "New Brazil Art by Pietro Maria Bardi Praeger Publishers c1970 page 152 "In his work he reproduces the folklore of Bahia which is his permanent theme. He executed a fresco for the American Airline Building at Idlewild Airport of New York in 1959" This wonderful piece is in original condition made from multiple pieces of scrap wood nail together and than hand carved to show the images of natives at dance and war. There is a small piece missing from the lower left which we show in one of the extra pictures we have supplied. The paint is blue and white with some flaking but most all the paint is fine. This piece was stored outside so it has some weathering effect to it.
