18th c Indian tinned copper pandan box. Pandan is an Urdu and Hindi name. A pandan is used for storing betel leaf, betel nut, dry tobacco, lime, catchu, and saffron. This one is made of heavy copper and is from the city of Moradabad, often called the brass city. It measures 8 inches high and 12 inches wide with a hinged lid. Hand tooled design depicting flowers and vines. Wonderful deep rich old patina.
