Centennial Chippendale style double chair back settee circa 1880. The settee retains its original finish. The shaped back exhibits ornate twin pierced splats with a center shell motif above a removable upholstered slip seat and raised on acanthus-carved cabriole legs ending in raised ball and claw feet. The arms and legs are mortised to the frame and the back is attached to the frame by old flat-head screws. Excellent condition and quite sturdy. It measures 42” high to the back; 17" high to the seat; 48” wide; and 18" deep.
