Wallace Nutting Furniture. This true and rare pair of Sheraton style chests or dressers were made from fine solid mahogany. This matched pair has wooden pin construction, sugar pine secondary wood, turned legs and solid brass hardware. Wallace Nutting produced some of the finest bench made, handmade American furniture in the American Federal style in the early 20th century. Each of these two hand made dressers measures 37 and three quarter inches wide by 37 and one half inches high and 18 and one half inches deep. The mahogany is a true match but the finish on each one is a bit different. One was refinished to show its deep rich mahogany color several years ago and the other one retains its old finish, so they do not look exactly the same. See "Wallace Nutting and the Invention of Old America" by Thomas Andrew Denenberg to learn more about Wallace Nutting and the Wallace Nutting colonial revival movement in America.
