Portrait drawing by American artist Thomas Sully B 1793 D 1872. Sully was a very famous nineteenth century American artist. This drawing was done in ink, wash, pencil on paper and depicts a young girl with the most perfect smile. The artist drawing was found in a Connecticut estate. It is signed TS. Sully signed a large amount of his work using these two initials. This drawing measures approximately 6 inches by 9 inches and is in excellent condition. The later gold leaf frame measures 16 x 18 inches. The son of actors Matthew Sully and Sarah Chester, Thomas Sully was born at Horncastle, England, in 1783. The family emigrated to Richmond, Virginia, in 1792 and two years later settled in Charleston, South Carolina.
