Early American tiger maple tea or breakfast table, circa 1800. The two top boards are dovetailed together and the tripod legs are dovetailed into the turned column and set with an early hand wrought iron brace for added strength. This table originally had a tilt-top but has been professionally modified to a fixed top; that eliminated the instability that is so typical of early tilt-top tables. Very sturdy and strong. Measures 27.5 inches high and 35 inches across. Easily seats four.
