Japanese Edo period lacquered small cabinet or ko-dansu. Eighteenth century. Stunning allover black lacquer ground with gold lacquer naturalistic flat and raised decoration of birds, chrysanthemums and wisteria. Eight drawers, each gold-sprinkled (maki-e) inside and outside. A lovely chest to store a jewelry collection. Measures 18.75" H x 15.5" W x 8.75" D. Excellent condition.
