Pair of Chippendale style gentlemans chests
Perfectly matched pair of Chippendale style gentleman's chests. Four graduated drawers with slide-out shelves in cherry and figured cherry. The cherry is the finest quality with uniform allover color. The top and sides were made from two boards. All over block planed. Hand cut dovetail drawers with chamfered bottoms. The tops and cross pieces are dovetailed into the case. There are additional wooden pins to support the cross pieces. Each chest measures 35.25 inches wide at the top, 33.25 inches wide at the case, 18 inches deep and 34.5 inches high. All the drawers slide effortlessly. Unsigned but of the finest hand craftsmanship. These easily compare to the best work of D. R. Dimes and Eldred Wheeler. Solid brass hardware. Two pulls are slightly different but not noticeable. Mint condition. From a Boston estate.
