Jennie Burr charcoal drawing of her (and her sister Fannie's) studio, signed J.M.Burr 1898. Acquired directly from the estate. Sight 13.5 x 10 inches; frame 21.5 x 17.75 inches. Very few of Jennie or Fannie's works are signed. Jennie Burr was born in 1872 into Monroe, CT's most prominent family, she died in 1961. Her father was a very successful farmer. She graduated from Mt Holyoke College and the Yale School of Fine Arts, and studied at the Art Students League in NYC. These accomplishments were very rare for a young woman of her time. Listed in Who Was Who in American Art by Peter Falk. Exhibition at the New Britain Museum of American Art, New Britain, CT. Catalogue of work produced by The Connecticut Gallery, Inc.
