These are the finest Royal Worcester plates we have ever offered. The 10.5-inch white porcelain plates have dark cobalt blue borders lavishly overlaid in 24k gold, and are in perfect condition. Circa 1870-80. The service was sold by Gilman Collamore and Co., Inc., 15 East 56th Street, New York. Gilman Collamore (B 1834-D 1888), at 20 years old, followed the paths of two of his older brothers in the porcelain and china trade. First Ebenezar followed by Davis, the Collamores found success in trading high end porcelain wares to the social elite of New York. Gilman established his own business in 1861 with Gilman Collamore & Co., at 731 Broadway, then at Union Square. Eventually Gilman occupied two stories of showrooms in The Wilbraham, a fashionable block of bachelor flats at Fifth Avenue and 30th Street.
