George Raab French landscape watercolor on paper. Frame measures 16" x 13"; image 10" x 6.5". Raab was a painter and printmaker, born in Wisconsin in 1866 and died in 1943. He studied at the Wisconsin Art Institute in Milwaukee, the Weimar Art Academy in Weimar, Germany, and at the Colarossi Art School in Paris, France. He taught at the Milwaukee Art Students League, and was a member of the Milwaukee Art Commission and the Milwaukee Art Association (now the Milwaukee Art Museum). In 1917, he received the Milwaukee Art Institute Painter's Award Medal. He became Educational Director of the Springfield Art Institute, the director of the Decatur Art Institute, and Director and Lecturer of Fine Arts at Milliken University.
