Fannie (B. 1858 D. 1931) and Jennie (B. 1872 D. 1961) Burr were born into Monroe, CT's most prominent family. Their father was a very successful farmer. Both sisters graduated from Mt. Holyoke College and the Yale School of Fine Arts. They also both studied at the Art Students League in NYC. These accomplishments were very rare for young women in those days.
