Abstract Latin American oil painting by Chilean artist Ernesto Barreda. Signed, dated 1966, and named 'Muro' by the artist. Moody shades of gray and white with a little clay pink. Highly textured oil on canvas, measuring 63" x 45.5". Barreda was born in Paris in 1927 to a Peruvian father and a Chilean mother. In 1932, the family moved to Chile where the artist later attended the School of Architecture and Fine Arts at the Catholic University of Chile. He spent 1946-1947 in France, where he attended the National School of Fine Arts and took classes in drawing and architecture at the Ecole des Beaux Arts. He has been a member of the Academy of Fine Arts Institute, Chile, since 1981. This painting was purchased directly from the artist in 1966.
