Francisco Domingo Segura mixed media portrait of a woman

Francisco Domingo Segura (1893-1974) mixed media portrait of a dark haired woman wearing a lace mantilla, circa 1960. Pencil,pastel and watercolor. The original gallery card from Galeria R Domingo R. Com Jose' de Barros, 301 1 and Cjt. 124 T 267 0209 Galeria do Centro, Edificio Governador S. Paulo is on the reverse. Signed lower right and inscribed to Miles Bond. Excellent original condition. Segura was born in Barcelona and studied there at the School of Fine Arts. In 1913 he moved to Paris where he struck up a friendship with Picasso, Miro and Gris, and became their faithful follower. He returned to Barcelona in 1932 and moved to Brazil in 1950. Niles Bond was a major collector of Brazilian art from this period and a patron of Segura. Bond worked for the State Department from 1939-1969, and was Consul General in Sao Paulo from 1964-1969. Gouache on paper portrait of a woman Brazil c1966 by Brazilian artist Artur Luiz Piza .The recent museum quality frame measures 21 3/4 by 26.5 inches, the image measures 13 and one half inches by 18 and one half inches. Signed center bottom and inscribed lower left to Niles Bond. Niles Bond was a major collector of Brazilian Art from this period and a patron of the artist. We believe this to be a portrait of his wife.Niles Bond worked for the State Department from 1939- 1969. He was officer in charge of Korean Affairs in 1949 and 1950. He was Consul General in Sao Paulo Brazil between 1964-1969. Paul Warren Zimmerman watercolor and gouache landscape on paper. Mid to late 20th century. The artist was American, born in 1921 and died in 2007. This lovely Western impressionistic landscape painting measures 17.5 x 28.5 inches. The solid wood frame measures 25 x 35 x 2 inches. Paul Warren Zimmerman, was an internationally known artist who lived in Hartford, CT, Kokomo, IN, and Toledo, OH. He was born April 29, 1921, in Toledo, Ohio, the son of the late Robert Frazee and Ethel Pearl (Cramer) Zimmerman. He graduated from Kokomo High School in 1941, with a full scholarship to John Herron Art School in Indianapolis. He graduated in 1946 with a B.F.A. Upon graduation he was awarded the Mary Milliken Memorial Fund Scholarship. He continued his training in New York City, under the auspices of Heinrich Mayer. In 1947, he became associate professor of painting and design at Hartford University School of Art. He semi-retired in 1986. He was awarded a Ford Foundation Grant, American Academy of Arts and letters and associate membership in the Academy of Painting and Design in 1959. He had well over 86 awards.
