Fannie Burr oil painting of children c1880

Charming oil on board painting of two little girls picking apple blossoms by American artist Fannie Burr, circa 1880. The older of the two girls is probably Fannie's younger sister Jennie. Fannie Burr (1858-1931) was born into Monroe, CT's most prominent family. Her father was a very successful farmer. She attended and graduated from Mt Holyoke College and the Yale School of Fine Arts, and studied at the Art Students League in NYC. These accomplishments were very rare for a young woman in those days. Listed in Who Was Who in American Art by Peter Falk. This painting was acquired directly from an heir to the estate. Estate probate number 47. Frame measures 27.5 x 37.5; canvas measures 23 x 32. Shipping extra. Connecticut residents and buyers picking up in Connecticut add 6.35% state sales tax. Buyers outside the USA are responsible for any taxes, tariffs or customs that might apply.
