Chinese 19th century painted wood market or box. It has two covers which can be removed or lifted to put food inside. The swing handle is carved with mythical beasts at the sides and two women at their cooking pot in the center. The box retains all its original red paint and allover floral design. Excellent condition with one small wood curl missing on the handle. It measures 6 inches H to the lid, 13 inches H to the handle, and 11 inches across. Sesshu long scroll Benrido Tokyo first edition circa 1956. Published for the 450th anniversary of his death. This book is in excellent condition: 10.25 x 13.75 inches. In Japanese text except for English titles of prints. Sesshu designed the garden of the Zen Temple in Yamaguchi.
