Early American country drop front paymasters desk c1860

Early American drop front paymaster's desk circa 1840-1860. Excellent original condition with secret compartment and full interior. The interior was designed to hold daily ledgers. The case is solid mahogany and the interior is maple with birdseye maple drawer fronts. Measures 59” high, 29" high to the writing surface, 33” wide at the case, 35.75" wide at the crest, 9.5" deep at the top, and 20.5" deep at the base.

American cherry cabinet with sliding doors circa 1830. Perfectly matched cherry boards with no heartwood. Two part construction. The upper section has a tapered crest, fixed shelves, divided light doors with molded grilles, and original blown glass panes. The lower section has 2 flat paneled doors, cubbyhole interior, and a tapered foot base. Measures 58.5 W at crest, 53.5 W at case, 12.25 D at crest, 9.75 D at case, base is 23 H, top is 62.5 H, shelves are 7 D and shelf clearance is 11.5. This cabinet may have been a mercantile display piece. We like it as a bookcase.

These are very strong, sturdy chairs with their original rush seats in excellent condition. 2 sides and 2 arms. The arm chairs each measure 44 inches top of back, 27 inches top of arms, 18.5 inches top of seat, 27 inches across arms and 17.5 inches deep. The side chairs are 43.5 inches high.
