Nathan Margolis hand built mahogany Chippendale bench. Highly desirable style made with 6 legs instead of the usual and less costly four. Each superbly carved leg ends in ball and claw feet. Made from beautiful perfectly matched solid mahogany in the original finish. Slip seat upholstered in golden yellow silk damask. Brass label underneath reads "The Nathan Margolis Shop Makers Hartford, Conn - 1926". Measures 41 inches long, 18 inches deep, 17.5 inches high to the top of the frame and 20 inches high to the top of the cushion. Gentle minor wear commensurate with its age. Nathan Margolis hand crafted exact copies of finest pieces in American museums in the early 20th century for his wealthy clientele.
